Seahorse

A huge well done to all of the children for this half term, especially the year 2s who showed just how fantastic they are when doing their quizzes! Year 1s remember it's your turn for a phonics quiz soon so keep reading over the break and spotting those 'special friends' in words! Have a lovely, relaxing break everyone and we look forward to seeing you in June for our new topic, Twisted Tales!

 

The KS1 Team

Today we visited the New Forest Wildlife Park as part of our Wolves topic, to see real wolves for the first time! The children got the chance to see the wolves being fed as well as otters. We were also lucky enough to see deer, butterflies, a bison, mice and pole cats. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and learnt so many facts about the different animals! Thank you again to all of our parent helpers.

Here is our new curriculum leaflet about our topic 'WOLVES'. Have a read to see what we will be learning this half term. There are some words on the back which you may want to discuss with your child.

Seahorse class have made me very proud this half term. They have been so engaged in learning about the problems affecting our world and have been passionate about making it a better place. The children have shown just how conscientious and caring they are when they have taken part in litter picking, bug hotel making, sensory garden designing and junk modelling.

 

I hope everyone has a great Easter. Have lots of rest and enjoy the spring weather! Please keep going with reading and practical maths, such as telling the time, or using coins to pay for items. We will send home some activities for year 2 parents and carers for some extra ideas for how to help your child at home. See you on Tuesday 23rd April!

What a fantasic way to end our Wonderful World Topic, by recycling junk to create models, with the help of our adults! The children loved seeing their grown ups get involved and their models were brilliant! Thank you to all parents and carers who able to come and join in.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the amazing planetarium dome experience today. A big thank you to the PTA and parents for raising the funds for this fantastic start to our topic on space. We can't wait to continue learning all about it!

What a fantastic first half term Seahorse Class have had! They have all settled really well and have been brilliant at adjusting to their new class. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came in to read with their children during our round up. I would also like to thank all parents and carers for supporting your children on their learning jounrey. As part of our Forests topic, Seahorse Class spent a lovely, sunny day today visiting Bolderwood in the New Forest. The children loved taking part in scavenger hunts, learning about nocturnal animals, making forest animals from pine cones and building habitats for them! It was great to see the improvements that have been made, especially for those people in wheelchairs or for children in pushchairs. The board walk looks lovely and the children really enjoyed taking their own photos of the wildlife and scenery on the iPads! Thanks to Ruth Kerr for being our guide!

Well done everyone for such an amazing Nativity play! I would like to say a particularly big well done to Layla who stood in for a year 2 and was able to act out a speaking role so confidently. What a great day we have had! That is the end of our topic 'Megastructures'. All the children looked amazing in their outfits on our Medieval day and their dance performance was fantastic!   A big thankyou for all your support this half term, especially our year 2 parents for all your help towards our 'quizzes'. We have had a brilliant day being taught about healthy eating by the Hampshire Catering Service. We enjoyed a healthy fruit kebab, a smoootie and then watched 'Ready Steady Cook' in the afternoon. WELL DONE MISS MAY! Thank you Hampshire Catering Service!

Welcome back to the second half of Spring term.  We have lots of fun learning opportunities planned for our topic of 'World Kitchen.'

We have had a fantastic number day. The children have enjoyed visiting classrooms around the school to learn maths in different ways. In the Seahorse classroom we learnt about maths through stories.
