Seal

What a great year we have had Seals!  Well done for all your amazing art during arts week and we wish you a wonderful summer holiday and a very well deserved rest.  Have a great summer break and good luck to our Year 2s starting their new schools in September.

Welcome back Seals!  We have already made a great start on our twisted tales topic and have enjoyed doing lots of drama to help us to learn the stories.  We are very excited at the thought of our sports day, parents picnic AND our summer fayre on Friday!  We look forward to seeing you all there!

A huge well done to all of the children for this half term, especially the year 2s who showed just how fantastic they are when doing their quizzes! Year 1s remember it's your turn for a phonics quiz soon so keep reading over the break and spotting those 'special friends' in words! Have a lovely, relaxing break everyone and we look forward to seeing you in June for our new topic, Twisted Tales!

World Book Day

The children looked wonderful on World Book Day and I know lots of effort went into their costumes so a big thank you to everyone who contributed.  The children were so excited to see each other's outfits and had lots of fun with their book based activities during the day.   The day was rounded off with a lovely, cosy reading time and the children love it when you come into read with them and the hot chocolate and biscuits help too!  Together we managed to make it a special day to remember.   Here are some photos of the day:

I would just like to say how well the children have done over Christmas! This has been a long term and they have kept on going right to the end. The Christmas performances were brilliant, as was the ukulele concert. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year. See you in January.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the amazing planetarium dome experience today. A big thank you to the PTA and parents for raising the funds for this fantastic start to our topic on space. We can't wait to continue learning all about it!

The children are having a great time during Arts Week.  We have had lots of artists and visitors into school teaching us different art skills around the theme of forests.  The children are very excited about the Art Gallery we are going to create ready for the grand opening at 3pm on Friday.  We look forward to seeing you there to showcase all the amazing art we have created.

YWe had a fabulous day at Bolderwood today.  The children were beautifully behaved and a credit to you and the school, the weather was wonderful and we all learnt lots of new things about the New Forest.   In the morning we had practical learning sessions in different areas of the forest.  In the afternoon the children made pine cone animals and had loads of fun making them little homes.  Here are some of the photos we took.

Welcome back! I hope everyone had good half term holiday. Our new topic is now 'Forests'. Please read the document attached which will tell you what we are learning this half term

What a busy half term it has been!  Thank you to all the parents/carers who were able to join us for our round-up of following the children's sandwich instructions.  We have all enjoyed our Sandytoes learning linked to the book `The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' .   Well done for all the hard work and resilience you have shown this half term.  We hope that you have a great half term break and look forward to starting our new topic of `Forests' when you come back.  Year 1s especially, please practice your phonics and keep reading.

We had a lovely afternoon visiting the new study centre in Eling.  The weather was warm and sunny for our walk and the children were wonderfully behaved as always.  We were all amazed to see the changes since our last visit; the cafe was looking very inviting and the new study centre was a real hit with the children.  There was lots of information about Eling, some very old artifacts and plenty of interactive activities that grabbed the children's attention.

Our new topic is 'Sandy Toes'. Please read our curriculum newsletter to find out what we will be learning this half term.

Welcome back Seals! We hope that you  had a great Easter break.  We are looking forward to starting our new topic of `Sandy Toes'.    Our learning will be around the topic of sea shores and the book - The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch by Ronda and David Armitage.

During the first week back we also be visiting the brand new Eling Tide Mill experience which has now opened!

The bad news was the weather!  It was sad to cancel our annual Easter bonnet walk to St Mary's Church.  The good news was that the children still enjoyed the service in the hall and parading in their beautiful hats.  They sang heartily for our visitors from the church and complimented each other on their excellent Easter bonnets.  There are more pictures on this site but here is one of just our class looking proud and happy.  Thank you to everyone who made such a great effort again this year, your children looked wonderful.

We would just like to say how amazing the children looked on 'World Book Day'. We appreciate all the effort their parents and carers put in. We had a great day reading different books and then doing activities linked to them, such as learning a magic trick and building with straws. We hope they all feel inspired to keep reading at home!

As part of Safer Internet Day, Seals class have been thinking about being kind to each other on the internet as well as which images are safe to put online. The children have created posters on what they most like about school and have written positive comments about them for each other. We have discussed how by putting these on our class page, anyone in the world can view our posters and we are very proud of them!

We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas break and are looking forward to the Spring term.  Our topic is 'bodies' and we have lots of fun learning and activities planned.  Please look at the curriculum newsletter for more details and keep an eye on this site if you want to see pictures of some of the fun things we are getting up to.  Mrs Collins or Mrs Nye will be happy to talk to you if you would like more information or would like to discuss anything that concerns you or your child.

Here are some pictures of our first outing for this term.   As part of our project to help the wolf be healthy, we visited Asda to find out how food is made and where it comes from.

Our topic this half term is 'Bodies'. Here is our curriculum newsletter with information regarding what we are learning and how you can help.

Well done Seals!  You were amazing today in your Nativity Performance.  What brilliant acting and singing!   You looked so lovely in your costumes too!  We hope that you have a wonderful time at Christmas but please keep reading and practicing your keywords!  Merry Christmas!

What a brilliant round up! I thought the children did brilliantly in creating an interactive museum. I hope that those who attended came out knowing a lot of facts about the Great Fire of London. Now it is time for the Christmas build up.

Thank you to all the parents today who contributed to our reading for pleasure 'Cinderella day'.  Thanks to your efforts the children all looked wonderful and it was great to have so many parents come  and join us at the end of the day.  Here are a couple of photos of our class, there are more photos in the key stage 1 section of the website.

A new half term full of fun events.  Our topic is 'fire fire' and the children will be learning about the great fire of London.  We are also enjoying listening to the children tell us about their Halloween and fire work experiences at home.

Happy Half Term Seals!

Well done - you all sang beautifully in our Harvest Assembly.

Thank you to everyone for all of your hard work this half term! Keep reading and practising your key words over the holiday but don't forget to have a well deserved rest! Stay safe and enjoy.

Here is our curriculum leaflet for the Autumn 1 half term.

Welcome to Seals Class.  What a great class we have this year and we are enjoying getting to know one another.  Mrs Collins is the class teacher on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and Mrs Nye is the class teacher on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Miss Dowse is the teaching assistant every day.  We have an exciting curriculum planned for this term and we hope that all the children are happy and learning lots.  There will be lots of opportunities for you to come into school and find out what your child is doing but if you need to speak to us in between these times we are more than happy to talk with you.   Please check your emails for details of what is happening in school and keeping up to date with the children's homework.
We had a successful and safe trip to the study centre this week.  The children were wonderfully behaved.  They enjoyed wearing hard hats to enter the building and found out lots about future plans for the building.  Our next job is to write a report about progress so far.  It is great that the children are so involved in the rejuvenation of the Eling Experience and are learning about the area they live in.

Medieval day was a great success, thank you for all your efforts to ensure the children were dressed for the occasion.  During the day we participated in knight school, learnt jesters skills and wrote about our own characters.  We ended the day with a banquet and the children loved showing off their medieval dance, castles and figures they had made in art.  I hope you enjoy the pictures of our day.  Well done for all your hard work this term, we hope that you have a great half term and we look forward to welcoming you back to our new topic of `Oceans and Seas'.

Wow! what a busy end to our half term.  During R.E. we have been thinking about special places.  We talked about our own special places, where we feel safe and peaceful, we built a special retreat in the classroom and visited St Marys Church to find out why it is a special place in our community.  Here are some of the pictures the children took during their visit.

Happy Easter everyone.  What a gorgeous afternoon we had for our Easter bonnet parade!  Thank you all for helping the children make their wonderful hats.  We made quite a picture walking through Eling.  The children were a credit to us all at the church and got us feeling ready for our Easter break with their cheerful singing.

Here are a few pictures.

Welcome back to the second half of Spring term.  We have lots of fun learning opportunities planned for our topic of 'World Kitchen.'  We will also have our usual opportunities for parents and carers to see children's learning and will be pleased to see you at any of our welcome to learning mornings, round ups or special assemblies.
Our school looked amazing today with all the children dressed in their wonderful costumes.  Thank you to all  parents/carers who made such a great effort today.  We had a super day enjoying books and being creative with writing and illustrations.  The children particularly liked their grown ups visiting and of course the hot chocolate and biscuits.  Thank you for your part in this lovely day, here are some photos for you to enjoy.

I hope everyone is enjoying our 'Journey' topic. We have written our own journey stories which we can't wait to read to you. We are now learning about Robert Falcon Scott who led an expedition to the South Pole. Soon we will be reporters on this event.

Thank you to all those parents/carers who came to our Reading for Pleasure day.  It was wonderful seeing everybody reading together.
