To help your child to be ready for school, there are some simple, fun things that families can do together.

Getting ready for school

A video for families about how you can best support your child to be ready for school.

Ready to Learn

During your child’s first year at school they will continue to work within the Early Years Foundation Stage and build upon the key knowledge and skills that they have already acquired both at home and during their time at pre-school.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is divided into 7 areas of learning and development;

  • Communications and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

The children explore these areas in many ways, learning through play. There is whole class teaching, small group work, independent play, and playing with carefully selected activities. The children have opportunities to play indoors and outdoors.

We use animal friends at Eling to help children gain the skills to be amazing learners.

ILearn

In the Autumn term, and throughout your child’s time at Eling there will be ILearn curriculum information sessions to give you more in-depth information about what your child is learning and how best to support them. These sessions will be held during the school day.
